Australian Group winners Lanciato and Saracino along with the stakes performing Dal Cielo have ensured Per Incanto’s popularity with Australian buyers. The likes of the impressive Sandown winner Peak (Per Incanto - A Chance to Dream by Volksraad) together with the unbeaten Our Windspirit show why the likes of Aquis Farm are prepared to pay A$210,000  for the Per Incanto – Manon colt on behalf of Australian breeder Sue Woodcock at the recent Melbourne Inglis Yearling Sale.

Peak, who was bred by LA and JML Bloodstock, was bought by John, Michael and Wayne Hawkes from the Sledmere draft on behalf of LA at the Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast.

The weekend saw debutante Shadow Crush (Per Incanto – Inertia) bred by Lady Tavistock win impressively at Gosford. Trained by Lanciato’s Mark Newnham, Shadow’s Crush was a $90k weanling sold at Karaka by Woburn Farm who went on to sell at Sydney Classic for A$330k

For good measure Per Incanto sired a winning double at last weeks’s Ashburton meeting highlighted by another impressive performance by the LA bred Devious.

Per Incanto with 43 individual winners currently sits one behind Savabeel in the race for individual winners’ category on the New Zealand Sires Premiership.

Aside from Sam greeting me at Karaka every year with “Have I got a horse for you” it’s about breeding successful and sound horses
