Big Week in Australia for LA Broodmare

Tuesday, 03 September 2019 01:50

All the signs pointed to the LA bred stakes winner Aspinal (Pins-Clermont Rose by ) pictured here, making a good broodmare and going by results in Australia last week, that promise looks to have been delivered and some.

Patiently handled by leading trainer Kris Less, 4YO O’Reilly mare Mummentum , Aspinal’s first foal, was making just her third career start when she finished strongly to score over 1300m in NSW last week, recording consecutive wins in the process.

Then on Sunday at Geelong, her 3YO colt Craftsmanship (Savabeel), a $360,000 purchase by Mick Price and DGR Racing from LA’s 2018 K1 draft, having just his second start after an educational run as a 2YO, showed a lot of courage and a touch of class to win over 1400m. Craftsmanship holds a nomination for the Caulfield Guineas.

Still owned by LA and raced in partnership with clients, Mummentum will herself make a valuable addition to the LA broodmare band at the conclusion of what’s shaping-up as an exciting racing career.
