Bonham Likely to Race On

Group 1 winning filly Bonham (Per Incanto-Fortune’s Choice by Redoute’s Choice) is likely to race on following her purchase by Seamus Mills Bloodstock for $1.6 million on a staggering opening day of the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast on Tuesday.

Bonham won her first three races, then won the Group 1 Levin Classic in January. She ran a close second in the Group 2 Wellington Guineas before her shipment to Australia to prepare for sale.

Mills is considering Bonham’s immediate future. A race such as the Golden Eagle is a possibility but she is unlikely to start before the spring.

Bonham’s sale is the most paid for a son or daughter of Per Incanto, eclipsing the $600k paid for Group 1 winning mare Santa Monica at the same sale last year and the NZ $1 million paid for the Fleur De Lune 2YO at last year’s Hong Kong International Sale.

Yesterday’s result was an outstanding one for owners Gary and Linda Harding who bought the filly from LA’s 2019 Karaka Book 1 draft for $160k.
