LA Stallions Top Book 2

Sunday, 31 January 2021 00:06

Another strong day’s trading wrapped up the second and final day of the NZB Book 2 Sale with LA’s stallions Per Incanto and Time Test again to the fore and an outstanding result for an LA employee.

Well regarded bloodstock agents Paul Moroney and Paul Willetts added second and third Time Test yearlings to their respective purchases for Book 2. LA’s athletic Ima Lady filly bought the day’s top price for a Time Test yearling, selling to Champagne Racing for $80,000.

Per Incanto, whose incredible sale continued with his four lots on the last day grossing nearly $400k, topped the book 2 averages with nine yearlings sold for an average of $81k, while Time Test finished runner-up with 10 sold at an average of $58k and comfortably leading first season sire on averages.

LA’s top price on the final day was the $140,000 bought by the Belardo – Keepabreak colt offered on behalf of the farm’s stallion manager Helen Phinney. The result caps a great fortnight for Helen after Wild Moose, the Nadeem gelding she bred and co owns, ran third to LA bred Per Incanto filly Bonham in the Group 1 Levin Classic at Trentham.

LA finished as leading vendor on aggregate grossing $778k at an average price of $64k.

LA extend their heartiest of thanks to the staff and clients for a successful sale. Similarly, those thoughts go out to the NZB team who have worked tirelessly to make the week work so well.

A family operation and success over many years, plus a location in a beautiful, under rated part of the country.
