Stakes placed on six previous occasions leading into Saturday’s Listed 1400m Woburn Farm Tauranga Classic, New York Minute (Iffraaj-Zenno Queen by Zenno Rob Roy), pictured, courtesy of Trish Dunell, was a deserved winner of the Gate Pa feature, in turn giving Little Avondale its 10th black-type winner for the 2017/18 season.

Bred by great clients the Spyglass Hill syndicate, New York Minute was purchased from the LA draft at the 2013 National Weanling Sale for $15,000.

Few domestic stallions have had a stronger finish to the season than Nadeem and the Group 1 winning son of Redoute’s Choice chalked-up his fifth winner for the week when his 4YO stakes winning  daughter Karavali (Nadeem-Just Diamonds by No Excuse Needed) won over 1600m on her favoured Randwick track on Saturday.

LA’s interest in Australian Saturday racing also centred on Adelaide as the promising start made by Akeed Mofeed (Dubawi-Wonder Why by Tiger Hill) to his stallion career gathered more momentum when his 2YO son Poised To Strike gave his sire his fourth metropolitan winner for the season with a dominant display. A Hong Kong Derby winner at 2000m, Akeed Mofeed, who now sits inside the top ten on the Australian first season sires list, is bred on a similar cross to LA’s latest stallion acquisition Time Test, by breed shaping Dubawi from a granddaughter of Danehill, from a daughter of Sadlers Wells.

Akeed Mofeed continues a great week for sire sons of Dubawi, highlighted by the Group 1 Royal Ascot win of his grandson Poets Word (Poet’s Voice-Whirley Bird by Nashwan).
