More Success for Te Parae Breeder

Tuesday, 24 September 2019 18:15

Te Parae’s Angela Williams is making a habit of breeding raceday doubles, quite an achievement for someone only breeding from a “couple of mares” these days. Last spring the full Per Incanto relations Carillion and Cutting Up Rough both won on the same Taupo card, while last week at Wanganui, Cutting Up Rough partnered up with the Zed gelding Hamiltonian to post a similar milestone for the Wairarapa breeder

For a horse who was the first of Per Incanto’s progeny to be sold publicly, fetching  $2,000 at as a weanling at the mixed sale that used to held at Wanganui Racecourse, Cutting Up Rough is shaping up as something of a late bloomer. Stakes placed in the last start of his previous campaign, Cutting Up Rough’s Wanganui success, just his second start following a spell, is the seven-year-olds seventh career win.

With her O’Reilly mare Lutine Belle due to foal a Time Test half relation to Cutting Up Rough any day, Angela Williams will be hoping the Ralph Manning trained gelding can go one better this season and get black-type for the pedigree page.

Earlier last month, Savabeel mare Tick Tock Time, the only other mare William’s is actively breeding from, gave her the distinction of breeding the first Time Test foal in the SH when she delivered a cracking colt. As a half brother to the stakes winning filly Its Time for Magic (Per Incanto), the Time Test colt is sure to be well sought after if eventually put up for sale.

Buzz’s crazy ads, but on a slightly more serious note, how the family have continued to produce sound, genuine and class performers is testimony to the family and their staffs dedication and horsemanship.
