Nadeem Colt in Winning Form for Group 1 Assignment

Sunday, 18 March 2018 09:09

Stakes winning colt Sir Nate (Nadeem-Just Diamonds by No Excuse Needed) underlined his readiness for the Group 1 Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes in a fortnight with a typically professional display to win the two-year-old event at Trentham yesterday.

A winner of the 1000m Listed Wellesley Stakes down the Trentham straight during the spring, the Lisa Latta trained colt clearly impressed his jockey Opie Bosson.

“Lisa said to me that he was lazy and she was right, he only does what he has to,” he said. “Once he was balanced he got home well.

“The 1400m at Awapuni is going to be ideal for him. If he gets a soft run behind them he’ll be hard to beat.”

Sir Nate and his full sister Karavali, a Group 3 winner at Randwick a fortnight ago, were bred by Brown and Fusion Thoroughbreds.

Another Trentham highlight on Saturday was Savvy Coup’s victory in the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks continuing the spectacular record in the race by winners of the Group 3 Little Avondale Lowland Stakes. The first three home in the Lowland finished 1st ,3rd and 4th in the Oaks. That’s quite some case for a Pattern upgrade.

Excellence, under-pinned by a good public profile that is down to earth and friendly
