Per Incanto Filly Impressive On Debut

Monday, 16 February 2015 18:59

It may only be twenty minutes drive but literally speaking it’s a long way from a Friday 2YO maiden at Te Aroha to the Group 2 J. Swap Contractors Matamata Breeders Stakes, but so authorative was the winning debut of Nahema (Per Incanto-Our Prized Rose by Prized) on Friday that connections are considering a start in New Zealand’s feature race for two-year-old fillies at Matamata this Saturday.

The win of the LA bred filly, who was a $10,000 purchase from our 2014 Karaka Select Sale draft by Bruce Perry for the Homebush partnership, gives Per Incanto (Street Cry-Pappa Reale by Indian Ridge) his sixth individual first-crop winner from nine race-day starters.

A likely starter and favourite in the two-year colts and geldings race on the same Matamata card, the Listed Fairview Ford Slipper, is Nahema’s stable-mate Rocanto (Per Incanto- Romantic Liaisons by Danasinga), bred by Dame Lowell Goddard.
