Per Incanto - Three Black Type Seconds on Oaks Day

Sunday, 21 March 2021 00:56
LA were to the forefront in all five black-type races at Trentham on Saturday.

Runner-up in the Group 2 Little Avondale Lowland Stakes at her previous start, Charms Star (Per Incanto-Anniesstar by Zed) was a gutsy second to super filly Amarelinha in the days feature, the 2400m Group 1 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai New Zealand Oaks.

Group 1 winning filly Bonham (Per Incanto-Fortune’s Choice by Redoute’s Choice) lost little caste with her fast finishing second in a strong renewal of the 1600m Group 2 Fusion Electrical Wellington Gunieas.

Progressive sprinting mare Roch N Horse (Per Incanto-Rochfort by Cecconi) gave Per Incano his 40th stakes performer and 14th stakes horse this season, with her second, beaten a nose, in the 1200m Listed Hardy Trade Supply Co Lightning Stakes.

This backs up Per Incanto’s sales results where he has a career average of 11 times his service fee for 258 yearlings sold.

Stakes winning mare Mohaka (Nadeem-Diplomacy by No Excuse Needed) added a fifth placing at black type level with her third in the 1600m Group Wentwood Grange Cuddle Stakes.

Wellington Cup winner Waisake (Zed-Kincia by Kinjite), who was sold from LA’s 2016 National Weanling Sale draft on behalf of breeder Lorraine Jameson, landed the Listed 2600m Fasttrack Insurance 5k New Zealand St Leger to cap a great day for the farm.
