Per Incanto Unearths Another Promising Mare
Connections of Alchemia look like being rewarded with their patient approach after the four-year-old mare resumed off a sixth month break to score impressively at Matamata on Wednesday.
Spelled following a stakes placing at just her second start in the spring of her three-year-old season, the Stephen and Katrina Alexander trained mare started a further four times last spring for three second placings before again been put aside.
The Per Incanto mare sat three wide on speed throughout Wednesday’s 1200m maiden event but still ran out a comfortable winner by a length and a half.
Patience has been the underlying theme behind the fine performances this season from a number of Per Incanto mares, notably the Group 1 winner Roch ‘N’ Horse, Group 3 winners Magic Incanto and Belluci Babe and the stakes performers Faithful Feat and One More Time.
