Records Broken as Dubawi Sire Sons Shine

Saturday, 30 May 2020 23:27

Headlined by his son Night of Thunder, who is breaking records around the globe, Dubawi is emerging as a genuine force with his sire sons, increasing the anticipation around the oldest SH progeny of Little Avondale’s Time Test (Dubawi-Passage of Time by Dansili) who debut across the Australasian yearling sales series this summer.

Night of Thunder recorded his 9th individual NH stakes winner last week, taking his stakes winners to runners figure to an almost unheralded 15.3%, a figure that puts him ahead of the likes of Oasis Dream, Invincible Spirit, Frankel, No Nay Never, Sea The Stars and Lope De Vega at the same stage of their careers.

And it’s not just the NH where Night of Thunder has tongues wagging, from his one and only crop SH crop he has two stakes winners and eight individual winners  from just 13 runners to date, figures which have him second on the Australian First season Sires table for progeny earnings with 763k and a clear leader over his contemporaries based on winners and stakes winners to runners.

His son Cherry Tortoni’s (Night of Thunder-Tortini by Strategic) debut Victorian win last week saw him written-up as ANZ Bloodstock News Maiden of The Week.

Night of Thunder joins Japanese based Makfi, already the sire of 31 stakes winners, and the ill-fated Poet’s Voice, sire of 18 stakes winners headed by dual Group 1 winner Poet’s Word, in highlighting the increasing potency of the Dubawi sire line.

The only son of Dubawi at stud in NZ, dual Group 2 winner and Ascot track record holder Time Test certainly has big shoes to fill to continue the legacy of his outstanding sire, but with the backing of NZ’s leading breeders and a stunning crop of weanlings in both hemispheres, he has all the credentials to do so.

Time Test stands the 2020 season at LA at a COVID only special service fee of $6,000 plus GST.
