Three Out of Three Ain't Bad

Roch ‘N’ Horse (Per Incanto-Rochfort by Cecconi) had big shoes to fill when she debuted on Thursday at Te Aroha. One of three fillies syndicated last year by LA, her two other compatriots, Belluci Babe (Per Incanto-Savamour by Savabeel) and Keke Star (Shooting to Win-Kekova by Elusive City) both won on debut.

A last start Randwick winner, Belluci Babe has won three and placed second in four career starts, while Keke Star has started the once after her debut win for an unplaced effort on an unsuitable Heavy track.

The Mike Moroney and Pam Gerrard trained Roch ‘N’ Horse had to be good to win. Missing the start over 1000m could have been the end of her winning chance but the Per Incanto mare mustered speed to dispute the lead after 200m, before kicking away over the closing stages to win by two and a quarter lengths and running  57.9, nearly half a second faster than the other maiden 1000m race on the card.
