Mating Analysis Nadeem

Nadeem Foal

Nadeem (Redoute’s Choice-Candide By Sound Reason)

With a pronounced percentage of Nadeem’s stakes winners exhibiting distinct pedigree patterns, breeding buffs will have had a field day breeding to the Group One winning son of Redoute’s Choice at a modest service fee.

Nine stakes winners hail from the Never Bend line

A significant number of his black type performers hail from Never Bend line mares, including international Group One winning sprinter Sterling City, while No Excuse Needed mares have uncovered another successful stakes nick.

Key to the Never Bend cross is the duplication of the half-brothers Bold Reason, the sire of Sound Reason, Nadeem’s dam sire, and Never Bend.

Sterling City’s dam is by a son of Never Bend’s champion French stallion Riverman as is Nadeem’s Group Two winner Mujaarib, while South African Group Two winner Tajmeel carries two female lines of Riverman. Nadeem’s Australian Group winners Happy Galaxy and Sharnee Rose are both descendants of Never Bend’s Champion son Mill Reef.

True to form, Nadeem’s New Zealand crops are also cashing in on the Never Bend factor with O’Reilly mares looking particularly potent.

New Zealand has a wealth of Never Bend blood with mares by the likes of High Chaparral, O’Reilly, Pentire, Thorn Park, Towkay, Makfi, Bullbars and Volksraad making ideal cohorts for breeders looking to capitalise on this proven nick with Nadeem.

Given that he’s only served a handful of No Excuse Needed mares, Nadeem’s affinity with mares by the son of Machiavellian is tremendously exciting especially given Nadeem’s ability to work so well to pedigree patterns. The nick’s success could be down to No Excuse Needed’s two lines of the Blue Hen mare Natalma, dam of Northern Dancer and grand-dam of Danehill.

With just a single duplication of Northern Dancer, Nadeem offers breeders a range of pedigree options. O’Reilly and Towkay mares replicate the highly successful Redoute’s Choice/Last Tycoon cross which on its own accord has a stakes winners to foals ratio approaching a staggering 30 per cent. Redoute’s Choice’s son Snitzel is the sire of the Group One winner Wandjina, who is from a Last Tycoon mare.

Sir Tristram line mares have produced great results when bred to the Redoute’s Choice sire line while Centaine mares capitalise on the successful nick with Sound Reason.

Sound Reason, the dam sire of Nadeem, was a sound, tough and classy sprinting son of Never Bend’s half-brother Bold Reason, who passed on all of those traits in becoming an outstandingly versatile stallion. His 12 Group One winners as a broodmare sire were achieved across a wide selection of bloodlines, but he had a lot of success with the stallions Centaine and O’Reilly.

As a son of Redoute’s Choice, Nadeem offers breeders the opportunity to line breed to Best In Show. Nadeem’s dual stakes winning son Target In Sight is line bred to the hugely influential mare through his dam sire Xaar, whose dam in turn is a daughter of Best In Show.

Mares by sons of Last Tycoon such as O’Reilly and Towkay give breeders a double whammy, duplicating Best In Show and picking up a line of Never Bend through Mill Reef. Mares by Helmsman, Kingmaker and Thorn Park also feature Best In Show.

Mares with Sadlers Wells in their pedigree look very interesting prospects bred to Nadeem with Fairy Bridge the dam of the champion stallion being a great grand-daughter of Bold Reason, Never Bend’s half-brother. Champion sire Tavistock is the stand-out progenitor of Sadlers Wells blood in New Zealand, however a couple of stallions who carry female lines of Sadlers Wells, notably Bullbars and Reliable Man, could be ticking time bombs mated judiciously with Nadeem.

Nadeem offers breeders a unique opportunity to capitalise on a highly proven affinity with a couple of pedigree patterns.
