Rising Per Incanto Star Wins Again

While all eyes will be on the WFA horses at the upcoming Hawkes Bay Spring Carnival, race-goers are in for an added bonus with the news that rising CD star Dolcetto (Per Incanto-Our Shiraz by Nediym) is likely to target undercard events on the last two days of the Bostock sponsored carnival.

Despite not handling the heavy going according to rider Samantha Collett, the Per Incanto galloper again out finished last-start Listed Opunake Cup winner Longchamp to record his sixth career win, his fourth in succession, when successful in the Johnson Brothers Open 1400m at Tauherenikau on Saturday.

With his trainer Levin’s Sylvia Kay quoted as saying it’s only his great strength that enables him to cope with wet tracks, Dolcetto’s participation at Hastings, particularly on better surfaces, promises to be a real crowd puller.

The Per Incanto five-year-old now has a record of six wins and two second place finishes in nine starts, for stake earnings of $113,000.

First and foremost, stockman and people whose interest in the animal translates into an innate ability to read how a horse will develop. I’ll see a foal at LA and Sam or Buzz will tell me how they expect it to develop. I’ll see it during my Karaka inspections 12 months later, and you could blow me over with a feather
