LA Share in Premier Sale Momentum

Possibly it was the improved Auckland weather or just another case of first day sale blues, but the second and final day of selling at the 2011 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale produced better results for a number of vendors with LA sharing in that success, highlighted by some particularly satisfying results for a group of our clients who invested significant sums to upgrade their broodmare band a couple of years ago.

As the Sale drew to a close this evening LA had sold nine yearlings for 1.565 million at an average of $174,000.

JML Bloodstock, who purchased the mare My First Fifteen privately in 2007 at the conclusion of her racing career were rewarded with $340,000 for her O'Reilly filly(pictured right)  late on the second day of selling. The filly  sold to Victoria's Mudgway Bloodstock and Spicer Thoroughbreds.

LA were delighted to share in the huge result for the partnership who owned LOT 330 - the General Nediym filly from Generous Nature €“ after the athletic chestnut inspired a frenetic bidding duel between a number of parties before selling to Sydney bloodstock agent Steve Brem for $350,000. The equal partnership which comprises LA, Storm Thoroughbreds, ABP Enterprises and Masterton's Angus Taylor, purchased Generous Nature from the 2007 Sydney Easter Broodmare Sale, with the assistance of Bruce Perry Bloodstock.

The sole Towkay representative in the Premier Sale, owned by LA and Pip McCarroll, the colt from Ashley Downs, sold to Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock for $97,500. Another achievement for LA was the $260,000 client Ricky Savory received for her Pins colt from Steluta, which made him the third highest price of the 44 Pins progeny offered for sale in the Premier catalogue.

The authorative win by the Derby bound O'Reilly's Prize at Trentham on Saturday and the group one mile win by the Don Eduardo horse Booming on the same card, has certainly highlighted interest in the Don Eduardo half brother to O'Reillys Prize which sells as LOT 938, late on the second day of the Select Sale on Thursday. LA has a nice line-up of 12, nine colts and three fillies, to sell across all three days of the Sale which commences tomorrow at 11am.
